By popular demand, our Arena Ground Rigging workshop is back, led by local riggers Roger Rosvold, Levi Houkom, and Kerry Korman.
Live Entertainment has an increasing demand for capable and competent ground riggers! As shows become larger and the gear heavier, skilled ground riggers become ever more valuable. Though their feet never leave the floor, they make all the difference in the world between a good, easy rigging experience and a frustrating, expensive, dangerous day.
This class is specifically designed for arena or convention center ground rigging. Our instructors draw on their training and extensive personal work experience to teach you the must-knows of ground rigging, as well as many tips and tricks that make a job safer and better for everyone. Successful completion will ready you for a day of ground rigging at a convention center or large arena.
In this class you will learn to:
identify common rigging gear and hardware,
read floor marks and communicate information clearly with the other riggers
assemble bridles and tie work ropes into them
send bridles and other rigging to high riggers
PLEASE NOTE all participants must be able to efficiently and reliably tie a bowline. You will be asked to demonstrate a bowline before being admitted to the class. We will send you home without a refund if you are not able to confidently do so.
Please dress for work. Closed-toe work shoes or boots are required; people wearing open-toed shoes or sandals will not be allowed to participate. Much of this class is practical, hands on experience building bridles and preparing them to be sent up!
