These Organizing Meetings are for anyone wanting to know how to organize the Jobsite. These meetings are open to anyone who has questions about organizing. If you have any questions or want to set up a separate meeting with the Organizing Committee outside these meetings, please email Organizing@IATSE13.org.
Tens of millions more wanted to join a union, but couldn’t. When workers are able to come together, form a union, and collectively bargain, their wages, benefits, and working conditions improve. For example, a worker covered by a union contract earns 10.2% more in wages on average than a peer with similar education, occupation, and experience in a nonunionized workplace in the same sector.
IATSE Local 13 has a strong commitment to organizing workers throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul. Knowing that the more workers we represent the stronger our collective voice will be. Therefore, IATSE Local 13 will commit to new workers that…
When we refer to “organizing” workers we are referring to the process of turning a group of individual workers into a cohesive group that can effectively represent their common interests with their employer. This is what people outside the union movement might call "unionizing.
