At the May 2022 general meeting a dispatch rule change regarding the testing of Up Riggers and Ground Riggers was approved by a majority of the members present. As a result, Ground Rigging and Up Rigging tests have been developed. As of July 2023 there have been three sessions available to take the test. Every effort will be taken to give the tests on a quarterly basis.
Updated July 20 2023 This document is intended to state policies that are currently in place regarding the Arena Up Rigging and Arena Ground Rigging testing administered by the IATSE Local 13 Education Committee.

To advance from the Stagehand E, D, or C lists to a higher list, you must either make your annual days requirements or successfully appeal to the higher list. And you must pass any or all of the appropriate Stagehand Advancement Tests. The following are meant as study guides to help you prep for the tests.
Not scheduled at this time, contact Education_Coordinator@IATSE13.org for information. You must attend all three days of the class. The class costs $150 and is limited to the first 12 people signed up.
Learn about classifications and characteristics of different types of forklifts or different types of elevating work and aerial platforms, fundamentals of safe operation, fall protection, fuel handling tips and battery hazards, etc. Upon completion of the course, a written test will be given and each student will receive a Certificate of Completion. OSHA guidelines require certificates to be renewed every three (3) years. Unfortunately, Local 13 can no longer reimburse $50 of the cost on proof of successful completion. Check here again in the future.
Check out the Free IATSE Safety App available through iTunes.
The IATSE TTF Safety First! online courses are live! These interactive and engaging courses for individuals are available to all IATSE workers: both active members and those who may not be members but are working under IATSE agreements. FOUR NEW COURSES have been added.
The IATSE Training Trust Fund will reimburse IATSE workers who successfully obtain approved industry certifications and recertifications for the cost of the certification exam. Review courses and other fees incurred during the certification or recertification process are not reimbursable, and they can't reimburse for multiple attempts at passing the exam.
LinkedIn Learning is available for free to anyone working under an IATSE Local 13 contract. This $299.88/year benefit is paid for by our employers as part of our union's collective bargaining agreements.
Check out this link for many of our previous classes. If you are interested in us doing them again, contact Education_Coordinator@IATSE13.org and let her know. With enough interest, we may repeat them.
